Saving and recovery

Check save status, restore earlier versions, and recover pages and drafts.

Use page history for earlier content, Trash for deleted pages, and recovery copies for edits that may not have finished saving.

Check that your work is saved

Pages and canvases save automatically. Check the status in the page header or canvas before closing:

  • Saving…: keep the page or canvas open while the save finishes.
  • Saved in this browser: a copy is stored in this browser. Reconnect to finish saving it to Haunter.
  • Save failed or a connection warning: follow the message, reconnect, and wait for the save to finish. Download a recovery copy if one is offered.

After a successful save, a page shows an edited-time label such as Just now or Edited 5m ago. A canvas shows Saved.

Restore a page version

You need editing access to use page history. Wait for your current edits to save before restoring a version.

  1. Open the page and select its edited-time label in the header to open Page history.
  2. Under Saved versions, choose a version and review the preview.
  3. Choose Restore this version to replace the page's current content with that version.

Haunter keeps the current content in history before restoring. To undo a restore, return to Page history and restore that saved copy.

Saved versions are checkpoints rather than a record of every keystroke. Restoring a page can also change its task blocks and page links. Drawings inside the page have their own canvas history.

Review a copy from this browser

If you see Earlier edits are saved on this device, choose Review copy. You can also open Page history and look under On this device.

Select a copy to preview it, then choose Open as a new page to work with it separately or Download copy to keep a recovery file. Both actions leave your current page unchanged. Choosing Dismiss on the notice hides the notice; the copy stays available in Page history.

These copies are kept in the browser where you made the edits. Use that browser to review or download them before clearing its data.

Restore a page from Trash

Open Trash in the sidebar, find the page, and choose Restore. When you move a page with subpages to Trash, they move together. Restoring that page brings its subpages back too.

Delete forever permanently removes the page and its deleted subpages. You cannot undo it through Trash or page history.

Recover a canvas version

Use a connected AI agent to review saved canvas versions. Ask, for example: “Show the saved versions of the checkout canvas before restoring anything.” Once you have chosen a version, ask the agent to restore it. Restoring requires Full access.

There is no canvas history picker in the web app. Restoring a canvas version replaces the drawing and keeps a recovery version of the drawing it replaced. Page history can restore where a canvas appears in a page, but cannot restore an older drawing.

Recover work that has not synced

If Haunter offers a recovery download, save it before clearing browser data or signing out. To bring a Haunter JSON recovery file back into the app:

  1. Open the workspace where you want the recovered content.
  2. Open the menu beside Pages in the sidebar and choose Recover drafts.
  3. Select the recovery file and review the pages and canvases it contains.
  4. Choose Recover as new pages.

Haunter creates new pages and canvases and leaves your existing work unchanged. For a Markdown recovery download, choose Import Markdown from the Pages menu instead.

Local drafts depend on that browser's storage. They are a fallback for interrupted saves, not a substitute for a confirmed save to Haunter.
